Rakankyo is a valley that stretches for about 8 km from Kurisu to Iiyama, upstream of the Oze River, and is attractive for its beautiful formations created by the clear water and weathered rocks. If you follow the promenade along the valley, you can see a forest of large stone pillars and feel the flow up close from the wooden bridge along the promenade.

But the 15m-high waterfall is worth seeing, and in autumn, the surrounding maples turn red and orange and are reflected in the clear water of the waterfall basin, making it popular with photography enthusiasts. The two-tiered waterfall from Nakayama Bridge and the deep pool called "Chigawari no Fuchi" are also points of interest, and in spring, the late-blooming Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom in the Nakamichi area of ​​the tributary.

For parking, we recommend using the roadside station Spa Rakan. Also, since there are sections where mobile phone signals are difficult to receive, it is a good idea to gather information about the hiking trail here before hiking.

Across the river along the national highway downstream, there is a stylish cafe called "Cafe Terrace Kitayama".
