Motoise Konojinja Shrine in Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, is an ancient shrine that is the Ichinomiya of Tango Province and the original shrine of Ise Grand Shrine. It is a power spot full of history and mysticism that is definitely worth stopping by when sightseeing in Amanohashidate.
Motoise Konojinja Shrine is a historic shrine located in Miyazu City, north of Amanohashidate, one of the Three Scenic Views of Japan, and is the highest ranking "Ichinomiya" shrine in Tango Province (present-day northern Kyoto Prefecture). It was founded very long ago, and is called "Motoise" because of the legend that Amaterasu Omikami was temporarily enshrined there before she was enshrined at Ise Jingu. The main deity is Hikohoakari no Mikoto, who is known for blessings such as bountiful harvests, prosperous business, and household safety. The main hall is built in the same Shinmei-zukuri style as Ise Jingu, and the chigi and katsuogi trees also share the same style as Ise Jingu, and the majestic appearance overwhelms those who see it. The shrine also has many cultural assets that tell the history of the shrine.

The shrine grounds are dotted with sacred trees that are over several hundred years old, and auxiliary and subordinate shrines with a sacred atmosphere, allowing you to worship in a solemn atmosphere. In particular, the decorations on the roof of the main hall, called "Goshiki no Zagyoku," are unique to Kono Jinja and are not found at Ise Jingu, making them one of the highlights.

Fuchu Station of the Amanohashidate Cable Car is located nearby on the west side.
