Iga Ueno Castle is one of Japan's 100 Great Castles, whose five-story castle tower collapsed in a storm in 1612 and was not rebuilt for a long time. The current castle tower is a three-story mock castle tower that was faithfully reproduced in 1935 using wood instead of reinforced concrete. The contrast between the beauty of the traditional wooden framework and the plaster walls conveys the dignity of the past to the present day.

The stone walls supporting the castle are among the tallest in Japan, and the closer you get, the more overwhelming their impact becomes. The scenery of Shiroyama Park, which changes with the seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn, is also exceptional.
