Takatsu Kakimoto Shrine is an ancient shrine dedicated to the Nara period poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro. The shrine grounds, built on the ridge of Mt. Takatsuno, overlook Masuda Bay and offer a picturesque stroll that blends in with Manyo Park.
The main deity is Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, a representative poet of the Manyoshu.

He is revered as the god of learning, including poetry, and agriculture, and as the ancestor of Iwami-sanshi paper, he is also revered as the god of production (the god who governs the development of all industries, including agriculture, industry, commerce, and fisheries).

He is also known for his divine virtue of learning, and he can grant you the benefit of academic success and prayers for success in exams. Many people visit the shrine, including those taking exams and those aspiring to study, and a prayer festival (Kangakusai) is also held.

There is a power stone called "Kamojima no Hitomaro," and it is said that lovers will be happy if they touch it. This stone is said to have been salvaged from a place called Kamojima that once existed here.

On the west side of the site is the Shimane Prefectural Manyo Park.

[Trivia]
Kakinomoto no Hitomaro was a poet of the Asuka period, and is one of Japan's leading poets, with many poems included in the Manyoshu. He is known for his grand and elegant style, especially for his long poems. In the Manyoshu, he is called "the greatest poet of the Manyo period," and later was called "the saint of poetry."

The "Kamojima Stone" behind the shrine is said to have washed ashore from Kamojima, where the shrine was originally located, and is popular as a power stone for love success.
