Inochinushi-yashiro, a branch shrine of Izumo Taisha, is a power spot for nature worship, with a towering Zelkova tree that is about 1,000 years old.
The official name of Inonushi-sha Shrine is Kamitama Inochinoshi-jinja Shrine. It is a small shrine located about 200m east of Izumo Taisha Shrine, past the copper torii gate and along Shake-dori Street. The Zelkova tree standing behind it is a city-designated natural monument, 23m tall and 5.9m in circumference, and is an auspicious sacred place that enshrines the deity Shinso-musubi, who appears in the Kojiki.

In front of the main shrine building is a giant Zelkova tree said to be 1000 years old.

At the nearby Manai ruins, bronze spears and bronze bells were excavated during the construction of the shrine in 1665, telling of its history as an ancient ritual site.

The grounds are surrounded by trees, making it a calm space where you can worship in silence. If you visit the surrounding Shake-dori Street, Kitajima Kokuzokan Museum, and the adjacent Sannosha Shrine, you can enjoy a deep cultural experience in between your visits to Izumo Taisha Shrine.
