From Kappa Bridge over the Azusa River, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the majestic Hotaka mountain range of the Northern Alps.
Kamikochi is located in the Chubu Sangaku National Park at an altitude of about 1,500m, overlooking the Japanese Alps such as the Hotaka mountain range and Mount Yari. It is one of Japan's most scenic spots, with the Azusa River flowing with the Hotaka mountain range in the background. The promenade leading from Kappa Bridge to Myojin Pond and Tashiro Pond is well maintained, and beginners and advanced hikers alike can enjoy hiking safely.

The changing colors of the seasons, with fresh greenery in spring, highland flowers in summer, autumn leaves, and the first frost before the winter closure, make it popular with photography enthusiasts and families. In between walks, you'll want to take your time to look at the mirror-like surface of Taisho Pond and the Hotaka mountain range over Myojin Bridge.

It has long been a place of worship as a training ground for Shugendo, and is dotted with historical spots such as the Okumiya Shrine of Hotaka Shrine and the remains of Rokuhyaku Sanso. Environmental conservation is also an important issue, and there are plenty of nature observation and ranger guided programs.
