Nagamachi Samurai Residence Street, located in the west area of Kenrokuen, is the site of samurai residences where upper and middle class samurai lived during the Kaga Domain era. The earthen walls and stone-paved alleys continue, allowing you to experience the nostalgic atmosphere of the domain era.
The approximately 1 km long promenade around the remains of samurai residences along the old Onosho irrigation channel is full of atmosphere with its stone pavements and hedges. You can freely visit the Ashigaru Museum and the restored earthen walls of the houses, making this a course that can be enjoyed by history buffs and photography enthusiasts alike.

The alleys are lined with earthen walls and stone pavements, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the feudal era.

Passing through the rows of townhouses, you will come across prestigious former samurai residences such as the Nomura family's, and the interior layout and furnishings give a glimpse into the lives of Kaga samurai. There are also plans with guided commentary inside the building, allowing you to experience history in greater depth.

The nearby Daisetsu Suzuki Museum and Nishi Chaya District are within walking distance. In between your strolls, you can enjoy gold leaf soft serve ice cream, matcha green tea, and lunch made with Kaga vegetables.

Higashi Chaya District is lined with teahouse buildings with gorgeous gold leaf signs and lattice windows, and is attractive for its lively tourist activities such as kimono rentals and gold leaf pasting experiences. On the other hand, Nagamachi Buke Yashiki Street is a quiet road lined with earthen walls and stone paving that tell the story of the lives of samurai.
