The sacred tree is a large camphor tree estimated to be over 2,000 years old. This is one of Atami's oldest shrines, known as a power spot for granting good fortune in health, longevity, and matchmaking.
Kinomiya Shrine is a historic shrine located in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The shrine name "Kinomiya" is pronounced "Kinomiya" and has been revered as the guardian deity of this land since ancient times. The greatest attraction of this shrine is the sacred tree "Ookusu" that stands in the center of the grounds and is estimated to be over 2000 years old. It is also designated as a national natural monument, and its overwhelming presence and vitality impresses those who see it and makes them feel the greatness of nature. There is a legend that if you walk around the Ookusu, your life will be extended by one year, and if you walk around it while making a wish, your wish will come true, so many worshippers walk around it.

The grounds are surrounded by lush greenery and have a quiet and calm atmosphere that will help you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It is famous as a power spot, and is said to bring good luck in areas such as health and longevity, recovery from illness, matchmaking, and business prosperity. After visiting the shrine, you will feel refreshed and purified in both body and mind.

At night, the large camphor tree is lit up, creating a fantastical appearance that differs from the daytime. The grounds are also filled with places to hang votive plaques for matchmaking and safe childbirth, souvenir shops, and rest areas, so you can spend your time relaxing.

It is about a 5-minute walk from the nearest station, Kurinomiya Station.

The large camphor tree at Kurinomiya Shrine is one of the largest trees in Japan, with a trunk circumference of about 24 meters and a height of about 26 meters. The Inari shrine in the grounds is also known as a power spot in Atami City.

Behind the large camphor tree is the "Musubi no Ki" (a tree where you write your wishes), a place known only to those in the know as a power spot for matchmaking and the fulfillment of wishes. In addition, at the back of the grounds, there is a small spring, and its pure water is said to purify the mind and body.
