Cape Irago Lighthouse is a beautiful white lighthouse located at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. It was first lit in 1929 (Showa 4) as an important navigational marker that separates the Pacific Ocean from Ise Bay and Mikawa Bay. From the tip of the cape where the lighthouse stands, you can see a magnificent view of the majestic Pacific Ocean, Kamishima, Mikawa Bay, the islands of Ise Bay, and even the distant Shima Peninsula in Mie Prefecture. In particular, at dusk, the fantastic view of the crimson sky and sea and the silhouette of the lighthouse fascinates many people.

The promenade leading to the lighthouse continues from the beautiful sandy beach "Koijigahama", and just strolling while listening to the sound of the waves is soothing to the soul. Koijigahama is a scenic spot that has been selected as one of the "100 Best White Sand and Green Pine Beaches in Japan" and "100 Best Beaches in Japan". As its name suggests, it is also known as a power spot for love fulfillment, and is recommended as a date spot for couples.

The area around the lighthouse has been developed as a natural park, where you can enjoy flowers of every season. Cape Irago is also famous as a stopover point for migratory birds, and is known as a great birdwatching spot, especially in autumn, where you can see flocks of birds of prey such as grey-faced buzzards and honey buzzards migrating.
