A winery located in the Kuju Plateau in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. You can sample and purchase wines grown in the magnificent natural surroundings, and enjoy the Italian restaurant, which is popular for its stone oven pizzas and spectacular views.
Kuju Winery is located at the foot of the majestic Kuju Plateau in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. Blessed with a cool climate at an altitude of 850m and rich nature, this area is where we do everything from grape cultivation to brewing.
Kuju Winery is characterized by its rich natural environment and long tradition of grape cultivation. The Kuju Plateau has a cool climate in the summer and a warm climate in the winter, making it an ideal environment for grape cultivation.
Kuju Winery also has a history of grape cultivation dating back to the Edo period, and has accumulated a wealth of experience and know-how.
Kuju Winery cultivates grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a variety of wines.
In addition, the "Kuju Winery Restaurant Ishigama Kobo", which is attached to Kuju Winery, is an Italian restaurant with a view of the majestic Kuju Plateau. The restaurant's greatest attraction is its stone-oven pizza, which boasts a chewy crust and is baked in an authentic stone oven inside the restaurant. It uses an abundance of fresh locally grown vegetables and ingredients that make use of Kyushu's bounty, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural flavors of the ingredients. It pairs perfectly with the restaurant's own Kuju Highlands wine, and the meal while taking in the beautiful scenery is exceptional. There are also plenty of other Italian dishes on the menu, including pasta and appetizers, allowing you to spend a luxurious time surrounded by the lush nature of the plateau.
