Located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, this magnificent waterfall is representative of the Norikura Highlands. Surrounded by lush nature, the clear water and impressive scenery captivate all who visit.
Bansho Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Norikura Plateau in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, where meltwater from Mt. Norikura flows down. Its imposing appearance, about 10 meters wide and 40 meters high, is loved by many tourists as one of the most scenic spots in the Norikura Plateau. From the well-maintained promenade close to the waterfall basin, you can feel the powerful spray and roaring sound of the water up close, and experience stimulating your five senses in the rich natural surroundings.

The greatest attraction of this waterfall is the scenery that shows different expressions in each season. In spring, the white spray stands out against the fresh green leaves, in summer, the cool sound of the water and the deep green, in autumn, the contrast with the fiery autumn leaves, and in winter, the ice waterfall, each of which offers different beauty. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, the vivid colors of broad-leaved trees such as maples and beeches, combined with the whiteness of the waterfall, create a breathtaking view.

Bansho Falls is not just a place to view the waterfall, but also a place where you can experience the rich nature of Norikura Highlands. There are several waterfalls and trekking trails scattered around the area, so you can enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery while hiking.

[Useful points of concern]
In winter, roads may be closed due to snowfall, making it impossible to access Bansho Falls.
From the parking lot, you will have to go down a steep staircase. There are some slippery areas and steep slopes, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
