Located on the border between Nara and Mie prefectures, Odaigahara is a mountainous region with some of Japan's most representative virgin forests, rivaling Yakushima and Shirakami-Sanchi. From the summit, at an elevation of 1,695 meters, a 360-degree panorama unfolds, and on clear days, views stretch all the way to Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps. The mystical scenery, particularly at sunrise and sunset, captivates many climbers and photography enthusiasts. Odaigahara's magnificent natural beauty and precious ecosystem have earned it a UNESCO Ecopark designation.

The hiking trails in Odaigahara are well-maintained, even for beginners, and the approximately four-hour circular course takes in the area's highlights. Along the way, visitors can enjoy unique landscapes, including spruce forests and the "Daijagura" ridge, where trees have withered due to strong winds. In particular, Oodaigahara is a thrilling scenic spot where you can peer down from the cliffs, and is one of Odaigahara's most famous sights.
