Sugi no Osugi is made up of two cedar trees, Minami Osugi and Kita Osugi, which are joined at the base, earning them the nickname "Married Couple Cedars."

Minami Osugi has a circumference of approximately 20 meters at its base and a height of approximately 60 meters, while Kita Osugi has a circumference of approximately 16.5 meters and a height of approximately 57 meters. They were designated as Special Natural Monuments of Japan in 1952.

It is said that Sugi no Osugi was planted by Susanoo-no-Mikoto during the mythological era.

The Sugi no Osugi is also famous for the anecdote that singer Hibari Misora prayed to it. While recuperating from an illness, she reportedly prayed, "May I become the number one singer in Japan," and she subsequently made a remarkable comeback.
