The Kurashiki Insectarium is a "picture book of specimens," displaying approximately 4,000 species and 15,000 specimens, primarily from Okayama Prefecture. It features a wide selection of rare species that are disappearing within the prefecture, as well as valuable specimens exclusive to the museum. It also has a world butterfly corner and a library section, making it a hidden gem of Kurashiki sightseeing, offering a chance to learn and see. Conveniently located just a 15-minute walk from the scenic area, it's a convenient destination for rainy days.

Admission is free, so it's a great place for children and adults who collect insects in Okayama Prefecture and elsewhere to stop by.

It's also recommended as a learning opportunity to learn about the nature and satoyama conservation of Okayama and Kurashiki.

As its founder, Hiroshi Shigei, a medical scientist, biologist, and entomologist, the museum is located on the first floor of the Shigei Hospital complex.

Free parking is available in the hospital parking lot with the presentation of a parking pass.
