Inside the house, ninja tools and books that are said to have been actually used by ninjas, such as shuriken and scrolls containing the secrets of ninjutsu, are also on display, allowing you to learn about the lives and techniques of ninjas at that time. In addition, you can sample "Kenpo-cha," a medicinal herbal tea used by ninjas, in honor of the Koga ninjas who are said to have also peddled medicines. Through these exhibits and experiences, you can gain a deeper understanding of the wisdom and ingenuity of real ninjas, and the historical background in which they lived, rather than the superhuman image of ninjas depicted on television and in movies.
The residence of Mochizuki Izumo no Kami was completed in the Genroku period after the Sengoku period, and it is clear that the wisdom of ninjas cultivated during the warring times was applied to his home in case of emergency. It is easily accessible by public transport, and is within walking distance of JR Konan Station, so it is easy to access. The Koga Ninja House is a unique tourist spot where history buffs and ninja fans, as well as children and adults, can enjoy learning about history and culture.
[Trivia]
・The Koga Ninja House is a real ninja residence built in the Genroku period about 330 years ago.
・It is said that Koga ninjas were skilled in practical wisdom, such as disguising themselves as medicine sellers to gather information, rather than serving a specific lord.
・The roof tiles of the house are decorated with the Mochizuki family crest, the "Kuyomon".
