Cape Muroto Lighthouse is a beautiful white lighthouse located at the tip of Cape Muroto, which juts out into the Pacific Ocean, in Muroto City, Kochi Prefecture, and stands at the easternmost point of Shikoku. Since it was first lit in 1889, this historic lighthouse has been protecting the safety of the seas for over 100 years, and its beautiful appearance is loved as a symbol of Cape Muroto. The surrounding area is designated as Muroto-Anan Kaigan Quasi-National Park, and is a scenic spot where you can experience the majestic Pacific Ocean scenery and the dynamic topography created by nature up close.

The greatest attraction of this lighthouse is its historical beauty and the 360-degree panoramic view that can be seen from the lighthouse. The shining white lighthouse stands out against the contrast of the blue sky and sea, making it an ideal location for photography. There are well-maintained promenades around the lighthouse, where you can closely observe the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean crashing on the shore and the unique topography of Muroto Geopark, dotted with oddly shaped rocks. At sunrise, the sun rising above the horizon and setting over the horizon are particularly beautiful and moving.

It is about a 3-minute walk from Saigosakiji Parking Lot.
If you walk up from the Muroto Misaki Free Parking Lot on the coast, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes, so you will need to be physically fit.
