Saidaiji Kannon-in Temple in Higashi-ku, Okayama City is an ancient temple famous for its "Eyo (naked festival)," one of Japan's three most bizarre festivals. It is said to bring good luck and ward off evil, and its historic buildings are also attractive.
Saidaiji Kannon-in is a special head temple of the Daigo school of Shingon Buddhism, and is a historic temple that is said to have been founded in the Nara period. The main hall is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and its impressive architecture conveys the style of the Momoyama period. The temple grounds have many attractions, including the three-story pagoda, an Important Cultural Property, and a garden with flowers blooming throughout the seasons. What has made this temple famous nationwide is the "Eyo," commonly known as "Saidaiji Eyo" or "Naked Festival," which is held every year on the third Saturday of February. The sight of thousands of men clad in loincloths colliding violently in pursuit of a sacred stick is heroic and full of passion, and attracts many people as a unique Japanese festival.

It is located about 1 km from JR Saidaiji Station, along the Yoshii River.

Even if you don't attend the naked festival, the temple is a dignified and impressive sight.
The Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva enshrined in the main hall is believed to have the power to ward off evil and bring good fortune, and many worshippers visit the temple throughout the year.

The parking lot is on the south side of the temple.
