Murasakiya, located near Fushimi Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway, is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1928. The Mizuyokan, which is sold only during the summer, is known nationwide for its smooth texture and elegant, modest sweetness, earning it the nickname "drinkable Mizuyokan." Its texture, which melts in your mouth the moment you put it in your mouth, is an experience you won't find anywhere else.

Mizuyokan is sold by the piece (sokomono) and in bite-sized pieces in plastic containers that resemble bamboo, and is very popular not only for home use but also as a Nagoya souvenir. Its shelf life is short, at only four days from the date of purchase, but you should definitely try its fresh taste. Mizuyokan is sold from mid-April to the end of September each year, and seasonal Japanese confectionery such as chestnut steamed yokan can be enjoyed outside of these times.
