The cave "Amanoiwato (Erihara no Mizuana)" in Erihara, Isobe-cho, Shima City, Mie Prefecture, is a spot where pure spring water flows out, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 famous springs. While Amanoiwato Shrine in Takachiho-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture, is considered the "main shrine" of the myth, this shrine also quietly attracts faith as "another Amanoiwato."
Amanoiwato (Erihara no Mizuana) is a famous water spot that is quietly opened on the slope of Mount Osaka in Ise-Shima National Park. Approximately 31,000 tons of clear water springs out of a limestone cave about 50 cm in diameter every day. In 1985, it was selected as one of the "100 Best Waters" by the Ministry of the Environment, and its purity is still highly valued as a local water supply and agricultural water source.

The cave is said to be related to the legend of Amaterasu Omikami hiding in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and has attracted faith as one of the "Amanoiwato" scattered throughout the country. Among them, Amanoiwato Shrine in Takachiho Town, Miyazaki Prefecture has been known as the setting of myths since ancient times, and Erihara no Mizuana is also carefully protected by the locals as "another sacred place."

It is surrounded by deep cedar forests and karst plateaus, and the murmuring of a small purification waterfall (misogi-daki) at the mouth of the cave echoes pleasantly. The natural beauty of each season soothes visitors: the green of young leaves in spring, the cool sound of water in summer, the colorful foliage in autumn, and the crisp air in winter. Visitors pass through the torii gate, join their hands at the edge of the Misogi waterfall, and purify their mind and body as they contemplate the world of mythology.

It is about a 20-minute drive from Ise Grand Shrine.
