Kikuya Yokocho in Hagi town is home to the Kikuya residence, which belonged to Sakamoto Ryoma, a key figure in the Meiji Restoration. The Kikuya residence is a nationally-designated Important Cultural Property and is the oldest traditional Japanese house in Hagi. The house's grounds also feature gardens, and displays of art and crafts.

There are also many shops on the street that sell Hagi-yaki pottery and other souvenirs.

There are several parking lots available, but the basic fee for regular cars is 310 yen. There are also free parking lots available near the coast and the castle, but they require a 15-minute walk to reach Kikuya Yokocho.
