Minetopia Besshi is a theme park built on the site of the Besshi Copper Mine, which once flourished as the largest copper mine in the Orient. You can experience history and nature.
Minetopia Besshi, located in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture, is a facility where you can learn about the history and culture of the Besshi Copper Mine, which supported the modernization of Japan from the Meiji to Showa periods. A part of the mining tunnels from that time has been reproduced in the park, and you can enter the tunnels by riding a trolley train. The harsh mining work of the time is faithfully reproduced with realistic dolls and sound effects, allowing you to feel the weight of history.

Minetopia Besshi is divided into two areas, the Hadeba Zone and the Tonaru Zone. The Hadeba Zone is full of mine sightseeing, hot spring facilities, souvenir shops, restaurants, and more, so families can enjoy it all day. On the other hand, the Tonaru Zone was once the main base of the Besshi Copper Mine, and the remains of the mining facilities, ore storage facility, and ore dressing plant remain as they were at the time, creating a magnificent landscape that is also known as the Machu Picchu of the East.
Tourist buses are available to the Machu Picchu of the East. (You can also get there by car, but the roads are narrow and it is difficult to pass other vehicles, so we recommend using the bus on weekends and holidays.)

The popular hot spring facilities "Besshi Onsen Tenku no Yu" and "Roadside Station Minetopia Besshi" are also located on the premises.
