Located about a 10-minute drive from the Kisa Interchange on the Onomichi Road, Shina Falls in Miyoshi City is within easy reach. Though it's a small waterfall nestled in the mountains, its clear waters make it especially popular in the summer. From the parking lot, it's only a 400-meter walk along a mountain path, making it easily accessible even for families. Restrooms are also located in the parking lot, so it's a safe bet.

There are three waterfalls, but when we visited, the two upstream ones were dead ends, so we only got to play in the first one. This first waterfall is more of a "playing waterfall" than a "viewing waterfall." The relatively shallow basin and gentle current make it a perfect location for kids to splash around. Its appeal lies in its use as a natural pool on hot days.

The surrounding area is shady, and the sound of the river and the spray from the falls are pleasant, allowing parents to relax while keeping an eye on their children. This is the perfect spot for when you want your kids to play in an environment closer to nature than the park pools in the city, or when you want to let your kids splash around in the water while on a drive. It's a convenient place to keep in mind when planning a midsummer outing.
