Togetsukyo Bridge is a scenic bridge spanning the Katsura River and is a symbol of Arashiyama. The view of the bridge, combined with Arashiyama behind it, shows its beauty in every season, and is especially crowded with tourists during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons.
The great advantage of Togetsukyo Bridge and Katsura River is its overwhelming scenic beauty and easy access as the center of Arashiyama tourism. Especially during the cherry blossom season in spring and autumn leaves in fall, the mountains are colored vividly, and the contrast between the bridge and the river creates a breathtaking view. You can enjoy the view from the water by strolling along the river, going down the Hozu River, or taking a houseboat. There are many tourist spots in the area, such as the bamboo forest path and Tenryuji Temple, so you can efficiently tour the whole of Arashiyama starting from Togetsukyo Bridge. Since it is free to pass through, you can easily enjoy the beautiful scenery as many times as you like.

It is extremely crowded during the cherry blossom and autumn leaves season. The bridge is always overflowing with people, making it difficult to leisurely enjoy the scenery or take photos.

[Trivia]
It is said that the name Togetsukyo Bridge comes from Emperor Kameyama's admiration that it looks like "the moon crossing without a cloud."
