Engetsu Island

Engetsu Island is a small island measuring 130m north-south, 35m east-west, and 25m high, located in Rinkaiura, Shirahama-cho, Nishimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture. Its official name is "Takashima", but it is popularly called "Engetsu Island" because of the circular hole in the center of the island.
It is famous for being able to see the setting sun through the hole in the center during the spring and autumn equinoxes. It is the symbol of Nanki Shirahama.
