Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park was established in 1954 as a central location for the hope of "realizing lasting world peace" in Hiroshima City, where the first atomic bomb in human history was dropped on August 6, 1945. Within the park, there are many memorial monuments and monuments scattered around, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims, the Flame of Peace, and the Bell of Peace. It is a globally important place where many people from Japan and abroad visit throughout the year to think about peace and renew their vows for the future.
When you enter the park, the first thing you see is the Atomic Bomb Dome (formerly the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall), which has retained almost its original appearance. Located just 160 meters from the hypocenter, this building survived the bombing and is a valuable relic that conveys the devastation of the atomic bomb to the present day. Standing in front of it, you can feel the situation at the time and renew your vow for peace.

Proceeding through the park, you will reach the Cenotaph for the Victims of the Atomic Bomb (Hiroshima Peace Monument). An inscription is engraved on the monument, saying, "Rest in peace, for we will not repeat this mistake," and a list of the victims is kept in a stone chamber behind it. Beyond that is the Flame of Peace, which is lit with the hope that it will continue to burn until the day when nuclear weapons are no longer on earth. These monuments can be said to be living teaching materials for learning from the tragedies of the past and building peace in the future.

The entire park continues to send out messages of peace, and various people, from school trip students to foreign tourists, quietly offer prayers here. Every year on August 6th, the Peace Memorial Ceremony is held, where many people from all over the world renew their pledge for peace. This is a place that cannot be dismissed as simply a tourist spot; it is one that all human beings should visit and face at least once.
