Hida Takayama's old townscape is an important traditional building preservation district in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, where the townscape of the Edo period remains.
The townscape developed as the castle town of Takayama Castle, and the merchant houses and townhouses of that time still remain today. The irrigation water flows under the eaves with a series of latticework, and the cedar leaf balls called "Sakebayashi" hang from the sake brewery.
