This is a Japanese garden created by the Date family, the feudal lord of Uwajima.
Tenshō-en is a garden built by Munenori Date, the 7th lord of the Uwajima clan, as a place of retirement. The name of the garden comes from a poem written by Date Masamune after he retired, ``You are too young to ride a horse, your life is flat and you have a lot of gray hair.

Tenshō-en is a garden with a stroll around a pond with the Onigajo mountain range as a borrowed scenery, and is also known as a feudal lord's garden. In the park, seasonal flowers are in full bloom, and among them, the Shiratama wisteria called "Abori wisteria" that hangs over the wisteria trellis of the arched bridge style is the representative scenery of Tenshō-en.
