The Yamaguchi Xavier Memorial Church is a Catholic church built in commemoration of St. Francis Xavier, who is said to have performed the first Christmas mass in Japan in 1550. The current church was rebuilt in 1991 and is a modern building characterized by its innovative design, white exterior walls, and two spires that reach high into the sky. Beautiful stained glass is arranged inside the church, and the colors of the light that change depending on the time of day create a fantastic atmosphere.

The inside of the church is a quiet space for prayer. The altar bathed in light enhances the sacred atmosphere even more. Visitors are captivated by its solemnity and can forget about their daily lives for a while and spend a peaceful time. The exterior of the church is also lit up at night, showing a fantastic beauty that is different from the daytime. Its appearance has become one of the symbols of Yamaguchi City.

It is located on a hill in Kameyama Park, so if you are driving, you can access it from the west side.
