Mt. Hyonosen is the highest mountain in Hyogo Prefecture at 1,510m. You can enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons and a variety of activities, including mountain climbing.
Mount Hyonosen, which stands on the border between Hyogo and Tottori prefectures, is the highest peak in Hyogo prefecture, boasting an altitude of 1,510m. It is also designated as a national park and is known as one of the leading mountainous areas in the Kansai region, with its untouched and rich nature. It attracts visitors with its various expressions throughout the four seasons, from the fresh greenery of spring, alpine plants in summer, fiery autumn leaves in autumn, and deep snowy scenery in winter. In particular, it is crowded with many people as a summer resort and a ski resort in winter.

Mount Hyonosen has a variety of hiking courses that can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced climbers alike. From the main trailheads, you can choose a route according to your physical strength and experience, such as a maintained promenade or a steep climb. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama, with views stretching out to the Sea of Japan and the mountains of the Chugoku Mountains in the distance. The majestic scenery viewed in the clear air is so moving that it will make you forget the fatigue of climbing. In addition, the foot of the mountain is covered with a virgin beech forest, which is home to rare flora and fauna, making it an ideal place for nature observation and forest bathing.

In winter, it transforms into a vast ski resort, and is popular as one of the best ski resorts in western Japan. The high-quality snow and variety of courses make it the perfect playground for ski and snowboard enthusiasts.

On the west side is Wakasa Hyonose Ski Resort, and on the east side is Hyonose International Ski Resort.

It is a popular mountain for hiking, but it is also famous among photographers for the "upside-down Hyonose" shot from the terraced rice fields of Betsumiya.
