Ueno Zoo

The panda in Ueno is a popular zoo. Opened in 1882 (Meiji 15), it is also the oldest zoo in Japan.
Ueno Zoo is divided into two areas, the East Garden and the West Garden, and about 300 species and 3,000 animals are kept. You can see animals from all over the world, including giant pandas, elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions, zebras, gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans.

Elementary school students and younger are free, so it is a recommended spot for families with children.

Admission is free on the anniversary of the park opening (March 20), Greenery Day (May 4), and Tokyo Citizens' Day (October 1).
