Lake Mashu is a caldera lake located in Teshikaga Town, Kawakami District, Hokkaido. With an altitude of 355m, a circumference of about 20km, and a maximum depth of 212m, it is known as the lake with the highest transparency in Japan and second only to Lake Baikal in the world.
The biggest feature of Lake Mashu is its transparency. The water of the lake is very transparent and reflects little light other than blue. Also, there is a steep wall around the lake, so you cannot go down to the surface of the lake.

Lake Mashu is a popular tourist destination where you can feel the mystery of nature.
