Hida Furukawa prospered as a castle town belonging to Hida Province during the Edo period. In Shirakabe Dozo-gai, merchant houses and townhouses from those days still remain, and the vestiges of those days are strongly preserved.

Hida Furukawa Shirakabe Dozogai has been selected as a nationally important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings, and many buildings have been designated as nationally important cultural properties.

Free parking is available in the city hall parking lot and the Wakamiya parking lot behind the station.
