It is a village of 20 gassho-zukuri buildings located in the mountains of Gokayama, Toyama Prefecture.
Together with Shirakawa-go, it is registered as a World Heritage Site.

The Ainokura Gassho-zukuri village is located on a terrace at an altitude of approximately 400 meters and spreads out over a long and narrow plateau. Most of the houses were built between the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period, but the oldest is believed to have been built in the 17th century.

Because the Ainokura Gassho-zukuri village is located in an area of heavy snowfall, the architectural style of "Gassho-zukuri" was used, in which the roofs of the houses were greatly bent in preparation for an avalanche. In addition, the houses are made of thatched roofs and mud walls, preserving the original scenery of old Japan.

The Ainokura Gassho-style village is loved by many tourists because of its beautiful scenery. Also, from April to November every year, it is lit up and you can enjoy a fantastic atmosphere.
