Kuromon Market is a shopping street stretching approximately 580 meters south from Sennichimae, just outside Nihonbashi Station. It began as a gathering place for merchants around the black Sanmon gate of Enmyoji Temple in the late Edo period, and was rebuilt after the war. Today, it's home to approximately 150 wholesale and retail stores. It's a popular market frequented by chefs from traditional Japanese restaurants, with many fresh fishmongers, and it's bustling with shoppers at the end of the year. The covered arcade makes it easy to walk through even in the rain, making it a great place to explore even for first-time visitors to Osaka.
