Hieizan Enryakuji Temple is the head temple of the Tendai sect located in Sakamoto Honmachi, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
It is a historical temple that produced many famous monks.
Hieizan Enryakuji Temple covers the entirety of Mt. Hiei, which has an altitude of 848m, and is dotted with more than 100 halls.

Among them, Konponchudo is the main hall of Enryakuji Temple, and the Yakushi Nyorai statue is the principal object of worship.

In addition, the Great Lecture Hall was the center of learning for the Tendai sect, and many monks trained there.

Enryakuji Temple on Mt. Hiei is divided into three areas, the East Pagoda Area, the West Pagoda Area, and the Yokokawa Area, and there are countless temples.

From Kyoto side and Lake Biwa side, go to the summit by cable car (ropeway).

Hieizan Driveway costs 1,670 yen round trip.
If you go further to Okuhiei Driveway, it will cost more.
