Magome-juku is the 43rd post town on the Nakasendo, located in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture. A post town located at the southern end of the Kiso Mountains, it is attractive for its tasteful townscape with stone-paved slopes and traditional townhouses.
Since the Edo period, Magome-juku has prospered as an important point on the Kisoji road, and many travelers and merchants came and went. However, fires in 1895 and 1915 destroyed much of the post town. After that, reconstruction work was carried out, and it became the present appearance.

Magome-juku is also known as the birthplace of Toson Shimazaki, a great writer. Fujimura has left many works on the theme of the scenery and people of Magome-juku.

Many of them were destroyed by fire in the Meiji and Taisho eras, but now the post town has been restored.

The section between Magome and Tsumago on the Nakasendo is also popular as a hiking course.
