The monolith of Kozagawa Gorge is a huge rock with a height of 100 meters and a width of 500 meters located in Kozagawa Town, Wakayama Prefecture. Designated as a national natural monument, it is known as one of the largest monoliths in Japan.
The monolith is believed to have been formed as a passageway when rhyolitic magma erupted to the surface from about 15 million to 14 million years ago with the formation of the Kumano Caldera.

In addition to monolithic rocks, you can also see numerous huge rocks and oddly shaped rocks such as Tenbashiraiwa.

In addition, the upstream of the Kozagawa River has beautiful water and many healing spots.

There is a roadside station at the monolith.
