Kunihiroya's liquor cake was invented in 1961 by the founder, inspired by the French baked confectionery "Savarin." It is made by soaking a moist baked castella dough in a special liquor syrup made from a blend of rum and two types of brandy. The rich aroma of liquor spreads the moment you open the package, making it a true "sweet for adults." When you put it in your mouth, the moist dough soaked in liquor has a melting texture, and although it is not too sweet, it has a rich flavor that goes perfectly with coffee or tea.

By the way, there is also a liquor cake from "Mikami Kan'ei-do," which is also said to be the original in nearby Miyoshi City.

It is not clear which one is the original.

Both are full of liquor, but Kunihiroya's is stronger.

There is apparently very little alcohol left, but a little remains to give off the aroma, so it's best to be careful when driving.

The store moved to its current address along with the factory in 2017. You can buy it here, but it is also available at many supermarkets in Hiroshima Prefecture. Please note that it is closed on weekends.
