Yoshino chicken rice is a local dish of Oita Prefecture, and is rice cooked with chicken and burdock root. It is said to have started at the end of the Edo period (1603-1867), when hunters in the Yoshino area used poultry such as pheasants and pigeons to make this dish.

At the Yoshino Tori Meshi Preservation Society, we inherit the traditional method of making Yoshino Tori Meshi and manufacture it by hand. We are also working to popularize Yoshino chicken rice, which is sold at department stores and supermarkets in Oita Prefecture.
