This is a mountain castle located in Hachioji City that has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 castles. The castle was built by the Hojo clan in 1587.

Hachioji Castle was built on Mt. Fukasawa (currently Mt. Shiroyama) at an altitude of approximately 445 m. Shiroyama is located on the border with Kai Province and offers a panoramic view of the Kanto Plain.

In 1590, during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's conquest of Odawara, Hachioji Castle was attacked by Toyotomi forces and fell.

Currently, only stone walls and dry digging remain. It takes some physical strength to climb the mountain to the Honmaru ruins.

Hachioji Castle Ruins Guide Volunteers are in the administration building for free.
