A combined ticket for the Egawa Residence is available, and it is a historical spot where you can experience the technological passion for modernization.
Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace is the only practical reverberatory furnace in Japan, built in 1857 under the guidance of Egawa Tarozaemon Hidetatsu. The firebrick furnace, designed for cannon casting during the late Edo period, is designed to concentrate heat from the crater to the reflective wall to melt iron, and is a testament to the domestic development of Western technology.

In 2015, it was recognized as a component of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution." In addition to the reverberatory furnace itself, the site also includes an exhibition room that explains its mechanism. With a joint admission ticket to the Egawa Residence, you can learn about life at the time and the achievements of the leaders, and you can look at the furnace and think about the technological innovations of the Meiji period.

It is about a 15-minute bus ride from Izu Nagaoka Station, and there is free parking, making it a convenient tourist spot for families.
