Takahara is a district in the city of Takehara, which became famous nationwide through NHK's morning drama series "Massan". The district features old buildings that thrived during the Edo to Showa periods, and is designated as a preservation district for groups of traditional buildings.
The street has a calm atmosphere. In the middle of the street is the "Fumyokaku" of Nishikata Temple, which offers a stunning view of the town from above.

Preservation districts like Kurashiki's Bikan district have seen an increase in young entrepreneurs opening shops, but so far, this trend has been less prominent in Takehara.

There is a Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) "Takehara" located nearby, which offers free parking.
