This is an astronomical facility located on the border of Mt.
Planetarium only 3 times a day. Running time is 40 minutes.

There are some astronomical related introductions in the museum. The main thing is to look through a telescope that can see the sun. It's not big, but you can see sunspots and flares.

Adjacent to the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, which has a reflecting telescope with a diameter of 188 cm, which is one of the largest in Japan, can be visited for free.

The telescope is bigger and more powerful than you can imagine. It is a recommended spot for children who like astronomical objects and astronomical enthusiasts.

However, unlike the observatory in Bisei, night astronomical observations are not possible. Part of the research facility is open during the daytime.
You cannot enter the premises at night because the gate closes at 17:00.

By the way, as of 2016, construction is underway on Kyoto University's 3.8m new technology telescope, which will be one of the largest in Asia when completed. It is scheduled to be completed in 2017.
