It is a castle built by Motonari Mori after he was defeated in the Battle of Sekigahara.
The castle was built by Terumoto Mōri after he was defeated in the Battle of Sekigahara. It no longer has a castle tower or turret, but the stone walls and foundation remain. It has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles.

There is a private parking lot to the south of the castle entrance where visitors can park for free. The city-operated parking lot is paid. (Please note that this information is subject to change depending on the season.)
