A Jodo sect temple in Ashidano with 8,000 stone Buddha statues and stone pagodas.
It was built by Kukai in 811, and later became Nenbutsu-ji Temple when Honen Shonin opened a Nenbutsu training hall.

Many of the stone Buddhas were dug up and collected from many unrelated Buddhas scattered around Adashino. Every year in August, the Sento Kuyo is held, in which thousands of unmarried Buddhas are lit with candles.

In addition, the area around Arashiyama is ideal for walking as there are many streets with a good atmosphere and famous bamboo groves.

The Kiyotaki entrance gate of the Arashiyama Takao Parkway is right next door.
