Omiwa Shrine is a shrine located in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture, with Mt. Miwa as the sacred mountain. It is one of the oldest shrines in Japan.
Omiwa Shrine is said to be the oldest shrine in Japan. The enshrined deity is Omononushi-no-Okami, the god of nation-building, who is responsible for the development of industries such as agriculture, industry, and commerce, warding off illness, curing diseases, brewing sake, pharmaceuticals, prohibition, transportation, and navigation. It is revered as a guardian deity of human life who is designed to increase the happiness of the world, such as marriage.

Omiwa Shrine does not have a main shrine. The three torii gates are said to have been created by the god Omononushi Omikami, the god of nation-building, who divided three souls into three torii gates in order to settle down in this land.

In addition, Omiwa Shrine has three Iwaza, Okutsu Iwaza, Nakatsu Iwaza, and Hetsu Iwaza, in the mountains of Mt. Miwa. Okutsuiwaza is a place where the soul of Omononushi no Okami rests, and the general public cannot enter. Nakatsuiwaza is a place where the spirit of Omononushi no Okami dwells, and is located behind the worship hall. Hetsuiwaza is a place where the spirit of Omononushi no Okami rests and is located in front of the front shrine.

There are many parking lots on the Otorii side of the Miwa Sando entrance, but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot.
