Mount Asei Jorakuji Temple

This is a historic temple in Konan City, which was founded in the early 700s and whose main hall and three-storied pagoda are among the three national treasures of Konan.
Mount Asei is the highest peak in Konan City, and there are two temples at the top: Chojuji Temple and Jorakuji Temple. Joraku-ji Temple is called Sai-ji Temple as opposed to Choju-ji Temple.

Many historical buildings remain within the grounds of Joraku-ji Temple, including the main hall and three-storied pagoda, which are national treasures, a Jodo Mandala painted on silk in color, a Buddha Reclining Buddha in color on silk, and a wooden seated statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, all designated as important cultural properties. In particular, the main hall is designated as a national important cultural property as a representative wooden building of the early Heian period.

In autumn, it is also a famous place for viewing the autumn leaves.

Advance reservations are required for viewing. No reservations are required during the special autumn leaves viewing period.
