It has flourished as a teahouse district since the Edo period, and today it is lined with shops and cafes selling Japanese sweets, traditional crafts, and miscellaneous goods, and is a popular spot where you can enjoy the atmosphere of Kanazawa.

On the banks of the Asano River, there remains an old townscape with latticework called kimusuko (wooden insect basket).
